installing new hardware - modem

Hey, me again. I appologize for askin all these questions.
How do I get Linux to detect my modem. When I went to set up my internet account it tried to find one, and it didnt. The modem is an PCI AOpen FM model. Will that work under Linux? So, how can I get RHL Linux to find, and insatll it?

I think the modem you have (Conexant chipset?) is a controllerless "Winmodem" and has been designed to only work under Windows.

I have an ADSL USB Modem which comes with Linux Driver pack. the only proble is i so new to linux i dont know where to start.

Can someone help??
