hi everyone,

I'm trying to help my dad. he has Norton 2007 which expires tomorrow - runs on a Windows PC

Question 1. Can he just renew his subscription to continue receiving the definition updates?

Question 2. if NO, then when he installs NAV 2008 from a CD, will it recognize that 2007 is installed and automatically remove 2007? or will he have to run their uninstall tool ?

Thanks, John

In the end, it is your call and your responsibility to fully inform your dad. Read the marketing slicks and compare features:

Then make an informed decision and present what you've found to your dad.

If he routinely engages is risky online behavior, you may want to go with the latest version.

Hi John,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

If your dad renews his subscription to Norton AntiVirus he should install the latest, 2008 version, as it contains may enhanced and new features to keep your computer protected.

Weather you use the installer from the CD or the downloaded version, it should detect the previous version and ask you to uninstall it first. To be thoroughly sure that the installation goes smoothly, you can use the Norton Removal Tool to remove the 2007 version before installing the 2008 version.

1. Download and install the Norton Removal Tool.

2. Run the tool and then restart your computer when it is finished. Run the tool a second time and restart after it is finished running the second time.

3. Make sure your internet connection is working properly and then install the Norton AntiVirus 2008 version. The LiveUpdate feature will run towards the end of the installation and install all available updates.

Thank you,
Mike
