I have been trying to install MSSQL 7 desktop version on NT and W98 machines from the small business server CD. On installation I am told that the server components will not be installed. How can I install the server components?

the small business server CD does not have the desktop version. The desktop version is only available on the OEM distribution disk for SQL server 7.0
Thank You - I thought this might be the case. I was confused by the MSSQL help text it states the following :

'Any user who has a per-seat Client Access License for the Small Business Server, Standard, or Enterprise editions of SQL Server can install a Desktop edition server.'

So are you saying that I have to purchase the full SQL server edition to enable me to install the desktop version?
Thanks for your help so far - I appreciate it.
I've been down that road as well. We wound up buying the MSDN full subscription so we got the product. However, as I read the help text you quoted, if you have a per-seat license (providing you can figure out M$ language on what that means) you can "borrow" an installation disk and make an installation on anything connected to your server.
Thanks for all your time and help. I think we will have to purchase the full version.
