Installing M 0X16 copper to 8X24

Just want to check on the procedure for connecting a copper
SM to 8X24 that already is using 3 digit(ext)table.
Should I power the ksu down before attaching the DS-30
cable and does the system recognize the unit with out any invention?

power down and plug it in power up terminate tail to distibution block and hook up to phone
