Hi,

I'm trying to get RH8 installed on an old windows server. I get to the screen where the installer asks what type of installation (text, graphical etc..) whatever I choose the system then goes off and tries to load the sym53c8xx scsi driver but hangs at this point. I've tried typing linux noprobe but I have to specify that driver to see my hard drive and then it hangs because I have to load it anyway. The machine has SYMBIOS on it and the sym53c8xx is from symbios but I can't find a driver that I can put on floppy and load from there. Has anybody had this problem before and if so did you manage to resolve it? ------------------------------------------
Thanx | your welcome !!

If the primary hard disk is SCSI and the controller is not being seen correctly, it may be worth your while adding an IDE drive just to get you up and running. Then get the required modules / drivers for the SCSI board and add the SCSI drives later on as addiitional partitions.
