Hello every body
i have a network and i have a domain controler i am plaining to have exchange server in my company so i prepaird a good pc to install the exchange server on it not to install in the domain controller
this pc of course will have windows 2003 server with servise pack and is a member of domain .
the question is how can i get the active directory from the domain controler ?
i know that i have to install ( the forestprep tool ).
can i install the forestprep in the exchange pc or i must install it in the domain controler ?
wating for advise

thanks

You don't install Forestprep you just run it to update the schema entries so that AD knows about Exchange.

You have to run Forestprep from the DC holding the Schema Master FSMO role. Which in this case would be your only DC.

I am also hoping against hope that where you say you are going to install Exchange on a PC you actually mean install it on a server with hardware RAID, a lot of RAM etc. etc.

Despite their current power PC's are NOT designed to run server class apps long term.
