Hi,

Does anybody know if its possible to install the explorer module on one server in a clustered environment?

Many thanks
Neil

The short answer in no, as each Livelink instance checks installed modules in openetext.ini against the schema on start up.

Are you trying to implement load balancing and restrict LL Explorer LAPI request to a single server?

If so, let me know and I'll give you a much more detailed description.

Mark.

The short answer is yes but I would ask OT Support for the exact way to do it.
I would do it this way though:
Install the new module to all the servers at the same time and then stop the 2 Livelink services.

Restart them one by one.

I suggest to test this in a lab first.

I tried it.
As soon as you update the first instance, all the other crash saying "A module has a wrong version number...." or something like that :-(
Not to do during opening hours really.

If you are using a load balancer, you need to intercept the LAPI request and pass them to a specific node. Alternatively, set up a second Livelink instance on one of the boxes, with separate Virtual hosts and ports, and direct all Explorer LAPI request to this instance.

You’ll also need to install Explorer module on all nodes of the cluster and then remove individual nodes, by commenting out the opentext.ini .

Comment out any sections starting [Explorer%] and [ClientDownload]
Don’t forget to exclude [OTEmail%] , if you’re using Explorer email.

I can't remember if I ended up removing from the Module directory too.

As always, do it a test environment first.

Good luck, Mark.
