Anyone know if it is possible to convert a redhat machine over to debian from a remote location?

I have root access, but don't have physical access.

Is it possible to switch, or am I dreaming?

If it's been partitioned then you do some juggling and free up one of them. On the free partition you could then gunzip a precreated Debian install and run lilo and reboot.

Of course if you get something wrong.....

Actually I think grub may be better than lilo if you learnt how to use it well.
