Installing/Configuring Directory Services for CS

Has anyone been successful at configuring Directory Services for CS10? I have installed runtime and the directory services server but am stuck at the OpenText Admin client screen. OT's documentation is quite confusing as one would expect. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have not used this but have used RCS which is what this is also based

In the above link how much have you truly accomplished
The thing is very new to existing livelink install base .they are separating
oscript driven synchronization code with this new Java based code so it is bound to be confusing
at least for some time.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah I'm going through that guide with not much luck, haha. I've installed everything including tomcat and it's running. I have this OT Admin Client open now and not sure which server I'm supposed to connect to??? If only OT's user guides could be a little bit clearer...I'll keep dreaming!

I plan to do this for myself when I have time.I will post my sucesses here or in my blog livelink.in
I may be able to do a all in one tomcat,livelink,ad,dc everything in one but thenI wouldnot know what is talking where
and how
Presumably OT put this out so it becomes a all in one solution for any kind of auth providers out there.
If this is confusing wait till you see all the authentication hops one makes with this.

Yes please do post any of your results or questions here. I really wish they would've kept the original module. I have a call with an OT rep today to help troubleshoot. I'll keep you posted as I hopefully get further along.

I had a lot of issues with this as well but finally got it working after upgrading to the latest patches of the RCS, CS10 updates, and the Admin Client. Yeah, OT's documentation sucks! I had to use a number of docs of the KC and figure it out on my own.

Thanks for the reply! This new standalone module just seems much more cumbersome than the original module through admin pages. This may seem like a simple question but what sever are you having to connect to in the Admin Client?? I can't seem to connect to anything and I feel that this needs to be done so I can move on.

Hi Drew,

Yeah, I liked the old way of just configuring/running a sync from the Admin pages .... Anyways, You need to add your server from the Admin Client. I think its Start --> OT Admin. Then there should be somewhere you add/configure your server.

OT Admin Client:
- Server Name: <Your CS10 Server Name>
- Port: 8080
- Protocol: http

Then you need to sign in using:
- User Name: otadmin@otds.admin
- Password: <password you specfied during install of RCS>

Again, I had to install all the hot fixes, patches etc for CS10, Admin Client RCS or you'll have problems setting anything up.

Awesome, thanks! Yeah I'm getting an error trying to login to my CS10 Server. Does anything need to be configured on my CS10 box? Or in the module?

I'm pretty sure I have everything up to date but I will go double check everything now.

Yeah, I think I had that issue too. Make sure your Admin Client is the latest version and has the latest patch. OT has patched that as well.

I have a feeling that in the RCS thing you have to create a LESdriver.That is the lifeline to LES(CS).
At least that is how it used to work in 9.7.1/ ECMlink 10.1.0

The RCS web services uses LAPI to communicate to livelink which will not happen if you have not added the LESAUTHdriver
the LESAUTHdriver needs a livelink server,its lapi port usually 2099 and a system admin user in livelink.

Can 'notrut' check if you had added a LESAuthDriver

FYI...there is a demo video of installing/configuring OTDS in the KC. The last hour it has been extremely helpful. Once I have everything configured and working I will post the results. See the link below.

I don't remember anything about adding the LESAuthDriver.

Here are my notes when I installed the Runtime Core Services 10.2.1:
- LDAP Administration port: 4450 (had to change from default)
- LDAP Communication port: 399 (had to change from default)
- RCS Admin user name: otadmin@otds.admin
- RCS Admin user password: <password goes here>
- Server Name: <Domain\SQL Server>
- port: 1521
- Database Name: CS2010
- Database Suer Name: <db user name>
- Database User Password: <db password>
