Hi all,
My first post here.
Firstly I would like to thank the users on this forum, as without reading through a few of the posts, installing call manager would have not been possible.
Ok, I installed this last night without one error, or issue, and I thought I would share my steps, in the hope that it will help someone else.
Firstly, I am running Virtual PC 2007. I have setup a Windows 2000 server environment in VPC 2007, with 512MB RAM, and 10GB Hdd. I named the computer CALLMANAGER01. I added DHCP, SNMP, Connection Manager Components and Network Monitor Tools.
I added an IP address, and mask, but no gateway, or DNS servers at this stage. All this was done during windows setup.
Once windows finished installing, I created a DHCP scope, and added the TFTP option to the scope. Instructions here:
I then imported this file into the registry. If you need to do this, copy the below lines, and save them to a text file called MCP.txt. Then rename the text file to MCP.reg
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco Systems\Model]
"Hardware"="MCS7835"
"Memory"="1024"
"Speed"="733"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Spirian\System Info\OS Image]
"Version"="2000.2.4"
Now, the PC is ready to install the Cisco updates.
The two updates I used were as follows:
win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-2-6.exe (452MB)
win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-2-6sr8.exe (90.7MB)
The win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-2-6.exe needs to be installed first. THIS INCLUDES WINDOWS SP4!!!. Most people install the microsoft SP4 first, then this package. You DO NOT need to do this. Its all incorporated into win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-2-6.exe. Once this is finished (it will reboot 3 times during install), install win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-2-6sr8.exe. Again, Reboot once its finished.
Finally, you "should" update your Internet explorer version. Here is a link that enables you to download the full install.
You are now ready to install Call Manager. I just inserted the discs, and away it went. Call manager will install everything it needs, including SQL, and SQL SP3a. It takes a while so be patient.
Ta Da! It "should" all just work! You now have a call manager publisher running. It worked for me at least, and cut out as much as half the steps of others instructions.
Good luck!
