I'm trying to install an IBM 3583 LTO tape library in my Sun E420r machine using the external SCSI port that came with the unit. The E420 came with a DVD drive and 2 internal hard drives. Can I still connect the 4 drives + the robot to the external connector? Has anyone gone through the same configuration?

Thanks

The SCSI for the internal drive and the DVD, I believe is "single ended". Check to make sure the 3583 is also single ended. If it is differential, it won't work.

The LTO unit has both HVD and LVD interfaces. We are using the LVD one.
