I moved a PMS Server and with it came an 1103 Dataset. The circuit was working, but is there a trick to install the 1103 Dataset using 2 pair or 1 pair and does the circuit go on the 2 center pins of an RJ-11 connector?
The Dataset has a flashing power light and the ready and the other lamp is dead.

Dataset?? ...long time without hearing from them.

We used to have couple of hotel customers with datasets, and what I remember is that they only needed one pair of cooper.

Don't you have the edocs for the SX2000?

I'll have a look in the old cds we have in the office and come back to you tomorrow.

Any way, what's the state of the circuit? What do you get if STAT PLID.

Maybe, the dataset uses the two outer PINS of the RJ11 plug, I honestly don't remember, that was about 7 years ago last time I saw one of those.

Daniel

Get a copy of the Technician's Handbook, and follow Correcting SET/DATASET problems, that might help.

The dataset is designed to operate on the second pair of a jack so that a standard 2 line cord can be used to connect the unit to the wall and a regular phone set can plug into the dataset if the first pair is active.

flashing power indicates that the dataset does not detect that a line is connected to the second pair.

You have not indicated the system type.

3300 does not use datasets so hopefully your using a sx-200 or 2K.
