I am currently trying to bring another server in to the domain and thus make this the BDC.

This is the procedure I am carrying out to do so:

Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Configure Your Server

Once in the Configure Your Server program I execute the following go through and add an additional domain controller for an existing domain. It runs through and looks as though it is about to install but at the final screen bombs out and advises me access is denied I do not have access to edit the object server2$.

I have since ensure I have sufficient priveleges to administer the object server2 and have full control over the object but I am still struggling to set up active directory on server2.

Any ideas?

Have you added server2 to the Domain? Also if you have are you logged in as the Domain Admin when upgrading to AD?

Hi,

Sounds like a problem I had a while back.

Open the your Active Directory Users and Computers and right click the Domain Controllers Unit and click Properties. Click on Group Policy and Edit the Group Policy.

Click on Windows Settings, Security Rights, Local Policies, User Rights Assignment.

Open Enable computer and user accounts to be trusted for delegation and enable it. Assign the Administrators group to this.

Once this is done, replicate and restart your DC.

Hope this helps.
