I recently got a replacement motherboard, power supply and processor. I installed everything and attached all cords in the correct manner, but I did not touch any of the jumpers and switches on the motherboard itself. After I flipped the switch nothing happened, except a small green light went on on the motherboard (the standby light the manual said it was). When I measured the power coming out of the power supply it wasn't putting out any power except the 5 volts of standby power the manual said it should. the power supply is a 340 watt power supply (dont know if ATX), and the motherboard is an Asus 266. Is there something wrong that I did? When I questioned tech support, the guy had me stick a paper clip into the green outlet and a black one of the motherboard power cable, and told me the power supply was bad when the its fan didn't turn. So, what should I do?

ATX if there is a plastic block of roughly 2x12 for the connection to the M/B.
Your power supply comes on in stages. First is the standby, then when the power switch on the front shorts two pins on the M/B power should come up. Suspect that you don't have the power on switch plugged correctly.
Pull power from everything except the M/B, and all the offboard connectors on the M/B except power on. Then post back and somebody will walk you through. Ed Fair

Be sure that when you fitted the motherboard in your excisting case? that all the mounting posts for the new board lined up with the new mounting positions!
It is not unusual to take some out! move some etc to line up with your new Asus boards mounting points.
If you have inadvertantly left one of more of these posts in that are not lining up with mounting points you may well have shorted the board out! I hope this is not the case! and edfair is correct. He points out another common mistake, easily done and easily rectified. Martin

I did as you asked, double checked I had it on the right pins and still nothing, and the mounting posts were all usable so I didn't need to move any. My computer always turned on without me having to use the power switch on front.

Power supply or M/B. You might try shorting the power on pins with a screwdriver blade to see if it will come up that way. Switch could be bad.
And this isn't anything you did. Ed Fair
