Hello

I'm trying to install CCM 5.1(3) and I keep getting a "Critical Error" and the install just halts.

This is a demo setup and I'm using VMWare Server. I've given the VM 20GB hard drive space and 1.5GB of RAM. I've tried now on two different machines and it does the same thing.

Does anyone know, am I to low on memory with the 1.5GB? What about drive space?

Anyone got 5.x working with VMware?

honestly, if it isn't a specific server the installation won't work at all?

neat..

Yep, Cisco aren't in this for a laugh, they want to make money and allowing the installation on only approved servers limits the amount of hardware they have to provide support on. You need specific hardware to allow the installation to work. With CCM 4.x and earlier it was an installation on Windows and you could 'frig' how Windows appeared to the installation routine so it was reasonably easy to get it installed on a non-approved server. With CCM 5 & 6 the installation routine installs everything from the same bootable DVD - OS (RedHat) and then CCM 5 (or 6). There is no (official) CCM5/6 install that is independant of the OS.
Get yourself an approved server off eBay - I got a HP DL320 G2, this is about the minimum you need.

that too bad. nothing like buying a $4500 server for something you're not even sure you wanna use.

thanks for the info!

Hi!
I was able to install CCM 5.1 on VMware!
Her is a link to an Howto...

It is important that you chose "redhat Linux 3" for your VM!!!

Good Luck!
P.S. You can install CCM 5.1 or CUCM 6.0 only as testing-environemnt on VMware and without license-files the whole thing is useless!

Sincerely

Sweet! that worked Ciscofriend. All I did was change my Linux version from "Other" to "Redhad Linux 3" and it worked..
