I recently purchased both of these cards and would like to set them up in our NEAX 2000 IVS. I currently have a 4cotb card installed. I was hoping someone could help me/walk me through installing these cards and configuring. Thanks

You can just swap the 4COTG for the 4COTB as long as you have loop start circuits.
As for the 4RSTC there's quite a bit more. There are 2 or 3 pages of programming steps for this card. You'd be best off having someone familiar with the system (someone with a manual) install this for you. They should be able to program it for you remotely if you have the built in modem enabled and you just install the card to the back plane. No other connections are necessary.

well none of the local vendors support this system anymore. I have all the manuals, including the the command manual. You mentioned loop start circuits. could you explain that at all? If you or anyone else could help me setup this 4rsta card or point me in the right direction. Thanks again for your time, pave35...

Check to see if you have a "Feature Programming Manual" If so look up the feature "Caller ID Class". Check the settings that deal with the trunk route info (Command 35) as there is a change that you'll need to make (35129>RR:x set to a 0 SM Class).

In my book the next section is how to setup the 4RSTC.
One thing to remember is that the "Slot Number" is the setting on the rottery dial switch and that 4 through F are valid. and no other AP card can have the same number used.

"Loop Start" refers to the way a call is orginated on the trunk. "Loop Start" works like your home phone pick it up and there is dial tone. The other type is "Ground Start" which meeans a ground is placed moentary on the Tip lead to receive Dial Tone. Check the "Command Manual" for Command 35. This has a section for 3509 and 3520 depending how these two are set will tell you what type of trunks you have.

Hope this helps

i have all the manuals, including the feature programming manual. CMD 35129 de 00-63 de = 7. CMD 3509 de 00-63 = 15, except for 3509 de 20 de = 8. CMD 3520 de 00-63 = 15, except for 3520 de 20 de = 00. i hope that is what you wanted. I am not sure where to start on this project but any and all help is appriciated. Thanks.

What city/state are you in?
I may be able to help you out with a dealer who can work with you either there or remotely. I'm afraid this is one application I would rather not walk someone through on a message board.
But first do you have the software diskettes from your system? You should check the version of the software in the IVS.
Or go to CM F63>005FFFA9> and post what you see.

cmd f63 de 005fffa9 de = FFA9: 28 ff ff ff

We are located in northern california. So installing these cards is a major job? I have spoke with our local vendor. They are not very good at supporting this system and that is why I am trying to avoid using them. Our system is configured to use a T1 PRI line as its primary and there are 4 POTS lines tied to the system as a backup route. While performing this upgrade, would the PBX still operate using the T1 or would it be offline altogether. The system currently has a 4COTB card and the purpose of this upgrade is to provide incoming caller ID data over the 4 POTS lines. Thanks for your time.

The programming for this feature would require one system reset once completed. As stated before you can replace your current 4COTB with the 4COTG now. There is no power down required to swap out the cards. Callers on the card (indicated by red led) will of course be dropped when you pull out the card.
Have you been to the NEC web site and entered your ZIP for NEC authorized vendors in your area?
There are several NEC authorized dealers in Northern CA.
By the way the IVS you have is running 1900R2 software. The caller ID option you wish to assign was first available with 1500 series so you are software compatible.
Also your PRI (if in trunk route 20) is not programmed correctly. CM 3520>20>00 should be set to a 15.

So if i just pull out the cotb card an insert the cotg, our 4 pots lines will be up and working again? But incoming caller id data won't be coming across until i install the 4rstc card? 20 is our PRI, i should change that to 15? What does this feature do?

Yes. As long as you have Loop start circuits. If you have Ground start circuits they will not work. In that case just re-insert the 4COTB.
CM 3520 is the sender start condition for a trunk route. With ISDN PRI the start condition is controlled by the DCH or the Data channel based on the Q931a signalling which is the layer 3 protocol used to control the trunks actions. If the route is set to a 00 it can cause issues as this is the setting used for wink start signalling on a regular T1 circuit. I won't go into the details of the A B bits but needless to say it has nothing to do with ISDN and should not be assigned. This is a common mistake made by many technicians.
