When trying to install my printer software, I received the following message:

"The installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in Safe Mode, or if the Window's installer service is not correctly installed. contact your support personnel for assistance."

I am not running Windows in Safe Mode - so I guess the installer service must not be properly installed. I am getting a similar message when I try to install another software package. Can someone help me resolve this issue?
Thanks. This is XP Pro.

Thanks - that fixed my installer service, but now I have another problem. The installer will begin to run for no reason. For example, I clicked on my IE toolbar to access my favorites and the installer started to run. The same thing happened when I clicked on an icon on my desktop. The installer usually tries to install Roxio EZ Media Creator (which is already installed)for some reason. I have to click "Cancel" several times to cancel the installer. Any ideas on that?
