Hi

I just installed win98 on a toshiba satellite 2520cdt laptop. After formating the drive which had a previous installation, the new installation went ok... rebooted and win98 loaded. All was ok so I shut down.

However, after returning to it the damn thing wont boot up. Most of the time I get just a blank screen without seeing anything - no bios info or anything.

A password prompt used to come up before the bios and windows loaded, before I did the format and install. Sometimes this comes up, but I enter the password and nothing happens at all.

This means that I cant access the bios or start from a boot disk so I'm not sure what is wrong.

I'm really stuck so any ideas would be great.

Thanks

Sounds like the BIOS lost its settings. I think you use F2 to enter BIOS. If the clock settings are way off then you need a new battery for the BIOS.
I am thinking that you are using an AC adaptor not on Battery.
Could also be the PS. Those Sats run hot!

I cant get to the bios to look. I'm using the mains power and have tried my monitor so I know it's not the display.

I've tried taking it apart to find the cmos battery but I cant find it cos I cant dismantle it enough :(
