Installed Office 2007 won't work, or un/reinstall

I am an editor who needs Word for work. I bought a Dell (vista) and Office 2007 the other day. Office worked fine; I then uninstalled McAfee AV and after doing this I can't get Office to work (it says too little memory, but I've 3gb), and can neither uninstall it nor reinstall it from my disk (both tasks give up halfway through with a window saying it was unsuccessful).

Any advice please?

PS As a result I am using Write but I would much rather use Word...
