I have a Sony VAIO desktop Model PCV-RX860 running Windows XP Home. I have a cable modem and D-Link
DI-524 2.4 Ghz Wireless D-Link DI-524 802.11G Router. Everything is working fine concerning the networking but now for some reason the mouse now locks up. I checked the IRQ's and don't see any conflicts. The mouse is the factory 2 button with scroll wheel PS/2 mouse that came with system and was working fine prior to installing the wireless NIC. It had never locked up prior to installing the wireless NIC and now locks up regularly. The MB had a Wired NIC built in which I went into CMOS and disabled to try and avoid any problems. I ran out of theings to check about 20 minutes ago so I thought I'd write a note hoping I'd find someone who says "oh that's no big deal deal all you have to do is ...."
Thanks in advance, Jim D.

A guess is that it is just coincidence. Check carefully there is not fraying of the wire where the cord enters the mouse body. Wiggle the cord around at the connection point to the mouse body.

At first it appeared that the mouse was locking up but on further inspection it is the machine that is locking up. Can't even do CNTL-ALT-DEL to get to task manager to see what's happening. Without any warning the machine just quits responding to mouse movements or keyboard strokes.

Checked device manager and see no conflicts. Both the Router (D-Link DI-524) and Wireless NIC are using 802.11g standards

Any ideas anyone?
