Just wondering how long it takes y'all to install/program/train on the following system:

MICS w/T1 & PRI
21 sets (incl. KIM module for reception)
CallPilot 150 with 28 mailboxes
3 ATA adapters

By "install", I mean take out of the box, screw to the wall, cross-connect all sets/ATA's and program system fully (including cut-over with LEC vendor) then train 21 people and help record their voicemail + personalize their phones (speed dials, labeling, etc).

Someone is telling me this can be done in 6 hrs. for $500. Does that sound about right?

nope...2 hours to install/give your self 2 hours to cut over t1....label place and test another 2 hours ...2 to 4 to program and train...then 4 hours cut over coverage next business day...and about 2 to 4 hours to do a data base and figure out exactly what is needed for programming

Mosy people want no down time so 1/2 can be done on reg time then other half on ot...good training will take about 2 to 4 hours to explian systems true capacity and features

i would do training on 5 sets set up room while another tech finished install...give 30 min for each group and thats 2 plus hours right there..so

figure 2 guys at 8 hours plus 1 for 4 hours cutover coverage following day...

should be a contract price at about 50 to 65 an hour per man ...1.5 for OT

520 + 780 "4 hrs OT"+ 260"cutover coverage"= 1560@65 an hr
400 + 600 "4 hrs OT"+ 200"cutover coverage"= 1200@50 an hr

price would include PE cables, cross connect, blocks
Exrta if station cables needed to be toned and verified...

And yes 1 guy could do it but training and t1 cut over could be issue if t1 cutover had problems...500 seems allfully cheap expecially when you look at training and vm "aa ,ccr tree, recording,vm boxes, speed dial, data base for programming and programming,t1 cut over..yada yada yada

I estimated 2 days @ 8 hrs. (16 total - 2 techs), but some yabo under-cut me and said it could be done in 6. I honestly can't believe this is accurate.

$1500 is what I quoted originally (2 techs @ 85/hr. + supplies/hardware). I'm looking forward to a call from the client after this knob-job "F's" it up.

$1500 is a good price for all that equipment. If somebody cut it by half, their only making $10 an hour. Who the hell wants to work for that and they still have to guaranty their work. The customer is going to get what he pays for!!
What state is this going in at?

I'm in FLA where nothing is cheap. The installer who got the job is charging $80+/hr. and claiming it can be completed in 6 hrs.

The client is an attorney. Hell, I paid a real estate attorney $285 for a 5 minute conversation that could've taken place over a cup of coffee.

As mentioned previously, I'm looking forward to the call after the "6 Hr. Man" screws it up.

Well ..there is no way you get a install done for 500.00 unless you are clueless and are going to screw someone and you don't screw attorneys they screw you

There is no way, it would take that long to hang and punch the equipment, let alone lable all the phones. I'll go with my original estimate. I would charge the customer 40 hrs...

DOcean. Agree, cannot be done properly in that time.
I would like to contract any of you to do jobs for us, although I think that you under value your own worth.
We would charge $3388.00 for 34 hours.
2 hours at $130.00 per hour for system programming design (additional if CCR or Call Center are used), 21.5 hours Installer time at $82.00 per hour and $1365.00 for training (one Basic System Administration sesion for 3 hours, one Basic Voice Mail Administration session for 3 hours and three set user sessions for 1.5 hours each) at $130.00 per hour.
This is what we charge for the hundreds of systems we sell and install each year.

In a perfect world our local install price for this would be about $1,400.00. But that is just a basic install with all station cables being in place labeled and working. Like someone stated earlier if they wanted CCR and other apps that would be an additional charge also.

Hopefully someone's done some planning, and has DESI labels printed out. I've found that labeling can take as long as the rest of the install if you've got to print them on site.

Also, is this an existing site, with another system in place, or new construction? Either way, with 21 sets, you're going to need to give yourself some time to tone and tag pairs, add a jack here and there, etc...

$600 !? Make sure this guy has your business card. He's going to have to call someone to get him up and running when it's all done.

Even on BCM50 with all IP sets , it would take me at least 8 hours for one man without user training !

Turn up ISDN PRI will take from 30 min to 2 hour . Sometimes it would take days if your order is screwed up.

I did about at least one system per month for our corporate
for the last 2 years and so it is pretty much routine for me.

I can cheat BCM50 programming by restore my cookie cutter config model and no label is involved with IP sets.

6 hours for Norstar MICS with bunch of wire toning and xconnect? It would be VERY hard ... Pain in the tail with them RJ21 pigtail . Heck $1500 is way cheap - but $ 500 ?

i charge 65 an hour and would pay a helper 20/25...so for me its alot of money for the work..only real over head is my liability insurance"no office per say old 93 f150 for vehicle"...i also misquoted my self i would charge for all materials used

$65.00 per hour is dirt cheap, Verizon charges $165.00 per, with a two hour minimuum. I charge $70.00 per with a $35.00 service call and Sept 1st it goes up to $85.00 with a 30 min. mininum...

yes it is and i really dont work on any phone systems anymore...water plants at home depot "work for a vendor" ,i also do some gardening work and some contract work installing vonage for endeavor telcom out of Alanta

But after 20 yrs as tech and 12 on norstars i am dead nuts perfect on my estimate time

DOcean- If you're still reading this post, let us know how it turns out. We all hate to be undercut by someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

Yes, I will keep the thread updated. The cut-over is a month away. I expect to hear something (begging?) around that time.
