could anybody guide me in the right direction how to install TACACS+ server on linux. (the instructions would be very helpfull...)
i would like to setup cisco swithes and linux server with AAA authentication. thank you

yeah.. i have to go with tacacs.. but thanx

That's what I found on the web also. TACACS+ of course comes with Cisco Secure ACS as well.

Tac_plus can be a bear to get right, but once you do it's rock solid. My suggestion is to use cutfiles for your device configs so you can enter the commands in the right sequence, and make sure you're connected via the console port - it's real easy to lock yourself out of the device. If I remember, the aaa auth commands have to go last.

As far as the daemon is concerned, as long as your keys are the same between server and device and you've created user accounts in your tac_plus.conf using generate_passwd to encrypt the passwords, you should be good to go.
