Installation order 1

Hi all,

I have the following scenario:

Sun Netra running Solaris 8
W2K PC

On the Netra I installed the FW-1 NG AI (R54) and added a license. So far so good

But now I want to install the management components (SmartCenter etc.). But where?
The Console has to be installed on the W2K box, right? And the SmartCenter Server? Sun or PC? If Sun: how to configure this thing?

Please enlighten me. Any help is *greatly* appreciated.

Did you install a management server, a gateway or both on the Sun server?

Hi,

at this point I Installed the VPN-1/Firewall-1 and the Smartcenter server on the Solaris box and nothing yet on the W2K PC.

So if your SmartCenter server and firewall module are both on the Sun box then you only need to install the management client (SmartConsole) on the Win2K box. You'll need to run cpconfig on the Sun box and set up a management IP address to allow the Win2K box to connect to it.

Its not good install SmartCenter Server and Enforecment module on the same server.
Good choise install Enforecment point on solaris and SmartCenter Server with SmartConsole on Windows.
