Installation and reboot 1

Don't know what happen :

want to install program and at setup screen got message :

A previous installation has pending work requiring a reboot.

So I reboot, no luck.
I reboot again and again .... always same message.

Win 98 SE.

Any idea what to do ??

What program are you trying to install?

Does it show up in the "Add and Remove Programs" list? Can you uninstall it from there and start over? Jennifer Sigman

The message just came up when I wanted to install a software program.
Don't know which program is pending.

Saw that a couple days at start up Win did something with configuration files. All programs run fine.

Can not install new FM program.
As try out I uninstalled Acrobat Reader. Can not re-install.
Got message at every attempt.
Set-up closed.
Need to find a way to by-pass that message.....

Check the start-up menu, and take everything out. Also check msconfig and take most everything out of the start-up, and note anything you don't recognize. If all else fails (and I had to do this myself when a 2000 box did the same thing) you can format and reinstall everything. Jennifer Sigman
