Hi,
a simple question for a newbie.
I'v got AIX Cds, but I don't know what are the steps for the install.
Can U help me.
Thanks a lot

Step 1. Put the CD in the CDROM drive

Step 2. Boot the computer from the CD

P.S. Are you trying to do this on a PC??

Cheers

IBM AIX is desinged to work off RISC processors. And Not x86 CPUs found in Pentium and AMD.

Thx Morsing for your answer.
I try to install AIX on a PC (PIII, Jpor, it's not good ?).
In fact, I try to boot with CD#1, but nothing at all.
Bios is correctly set up.
May be due to Cds, according to you.
Thx a lot.

harnaud, dude, you cannot install aix on an intel/amd based
pc. It must be on a risc, ie, rs6000.

Thx a lot for your all answers.
But in my case, there's no choice.
Buy a UNIX station or use LINUX, is it Right?
Thx

Yes if you want to run Unix and if it has to be AIX, you have to by an RS6000 (now known as a pSeries).

If it doesn't matter which flavor of Unix, you can put Linux on a PC. You also can put Solaris on a PC.

A great Thx for your all responses.
I'll go on using Linux ( redhat).
I'm a bit disappointed.

You can buy RS/6000s on eBay for as little as 300 pounds.
