Steve

Are you trying to install it on NT 4 Server, or NT 4 Workstation?

Hi there,

Im using Win NT4 Server, but i think i have the Exchange 5.5 enterprise addition.

Steve

Could the problem be related to something like under Microsoft Q323730?

Dana

No Dont think so, the cmd file is already in c:\winnt\system32, it's very bizaar, does anyone know where you can download the trail version of Exchange 5.5 Standard edition.

Thanks

Steve

I don't think there is a "trial version" (At least I have not heard of it) And I am sure Microsoft is not promoting it, since it is not a current version of Exchange.

Other thoughts off the top of my head, is the CD damaged, scratched? If you copy the CD to the local server and then run the install do you still have the same problem?

Is there any anti-virus software that is running that might be interfering that can be disabled?

are you installing to a location with enough disk space.

Do you have NTFS permissions set that are not allowing access?

Are you installing as administrator?

BTW, if you think your CD is damaged, it's still only about $25 for a replacement CD.

Hope this helps,
Dana

Hi Dana, thanks for the reply...

The CD i have came with the training material i got when i went on the Exchange 5.5 course here in the UK, it came with a CD that had written on it, Exchange 5.5 Evaluation Copy.

Have copied the contents on the c:\ drive and logged on as Local Administrator (which has the apprioprate NTFS permissions) but still get the same error arrgghhhhhh haha

Turned the anti-virus off still get the same error :-(

installing the software on the c:\ drive which has 2.93GB of free space.

Just wanted to put it on my network at home so i can play about with after my course, dont think it's gonna happen though :-(

Thanks for you help

Steve

Well, if your CD is someone's handmade copy, even of an evaluation, there is no knowing if the CD is correct or complete. :(
Good luck,
Dana

Unfortunately its not a copy, its a geniune Microsoft CD, it say's Exchange 5.5 (Evaluation Copy) with microsoft logo's on it, plus the course i was on was a microsoft certified course so there would be no illegal copies.

Thanks for you help.
