I was wanting to install second old harddirve to new computer system with win xp.

New machine is running winxp on an amd athlon xp 2400 compaq

This drive is 120 gb and already has separate area that holds recovery info for machine and windows. c drive for use and a d drive that is locked up.

Old machine quit working and wanted to take out 8 gb hard drive with win 98 already installed and place in new computer to use for my games and personal.

Can i just put it in and go, computer also has cdrw and dvd will there be a problem with drive letters, and how do you set it up to dual boot to win98 or win xp.

Attach you old hardrive as a slave (make sure jumpers on old hardrive are set to Slave) and you should be able to access the files you need no problem.

Having windows 98 installed on old drive will make no difference as boots looks to c:(master) drive for operating system.

You should find there will be no problem with drive letters.

Ok no problem getting hard drive in and accesible, but tried to boot from old drive to run win 98 and updated drivers as i could, when system would ask for 98 disc i would have it in an e drive but cant seem to access disc either it cant find it or is not seeing it any ideas
