I recently purchased a 715GBCS-2 Terminal to replace our ailing monitor. Is there anything special I need to do to install this terminal? Do I need to power down the system first?
If you install it the same as the other then don't worry. If you don't have the manual there can be one thing missing.
If you use both comports for let's say definity and audix you might have to change the settings.
This is from the cd:
In a standard reliability system, the terminal connects to the Processor circuit
pack. In the PPN of a high or critical reliability system , the administration terminal
connects to the Duplication Interface circuit pack in the PPN. In the EPN of a
standard reliability system or of a high or critical reliability system, the
administration terminal connects to the Maintenance circuit pack in the EPN.
Duplication Interface circuit pack A controls and monitors the same environment
leads as the Maintenance/Tape Processor in a PPN system without high or critical
reliability. Duplication Interface circuit pack A also supports the serial channel to
the terminal in a PPN for a high or critical reliability system. The terminal connects
to Duplication Interface circuit pack A via a connector, labeled DOT (Duplication
Option Terminal), on the back of cabinet A. At any time, the terminal may be
disconnected from the Duplication Interface circuit pack A and connected directly
to the active processor circuit pack by attaching the terminal to the connector
labeled TERM. This connection should be made only if the terminal fails to
function, since a problem with the Duplication Interface circuit pack A may be
present.
If you are using the 715 terminal, you may use its windowing capabilities. You
can use the 715 terminal to log on to both the switch and the DEFINITY AUDIX
System to perform administration tasks and easily toggle back and forth between
the two sessions. The windowing functions are controlled by the four function
keys, F1, F2, F3, and F8 as described in the following table.
Key Operation
Ctrl+F3 Enables the windowing function keys and displays their labels
F1 Turns off the windowing function keys
F2 Switches between the DEFINITY AUDIX System window and the switch
window
F3 Switches between split-screen and full-screen modes
Ctrl+F8 Enables the DEFINITY AUDIX function keys and displays their labels.
Ctrl+F3 enables the windowing keys again and displays their labels.
Somehow.. this afternoon I did it on accident.. there is a way to enter the setup of the terminal. Must be a plausible answer on this, but can't recall what I did. Don't use the monitor that often.
With the tab you can scroll through the different pages.
On the second page you can setup your monitor if you want to both ports or just COM1 or COM2.
When you set the monitor to both you can flip screen with CTRL-ENTER (that is the ENTER-key on the numeric keypad).
Got to the last page to save your settings and exit.
