I need to solve this problem:

My users are members off the power users group,
and i want to allow them to instull the instant masseging on there desktop (which run xp!).

but only ander local administrator they can do it!

some one have an id how it will be pussible to do it ander power users permitions?
thank...

That is what power users can do. Some software they can install but for the most part a Power user cannot install software. All a power user is, is a glorified regular user. If you find things hard to do with a power user, you need to do it then as an administrator. No way around it. Jason Wichman

can't i open some regisrty key to permit the users for that instull program?

No that has nothing to do with it. The program installation will have to be done as an administrator, not a Power user. I went round and round with this with a few people I know and installing programs, if the power user can't do it, you need to install it as and admin. Jason Wichman

than'ks for the effort!
But still i am not give up on this.
i don't wont to give admin rights to my users,
and i can't go to every station to instull the program.
i copy the log instull ander admin and comper it with the log ander powerusers.
Do u think that if i open the permition on the reg key and the permition on the writh files - it will work?
am i on the right corse?

Are you on a domain? If you are, then you can install it using Group Policy.

Does the software you want to install have an .msi package? If it doesn't, you need to create it. Put the package on a network share that is accessible to everyone.

Open your domains GPO and select Software Settings - Software Installation. Browse for the .msi file. From this point, you can push the package out to clients. When it asks if you want to assign or publish the package, select Assign. Assigned applications mean that the software is automatically installed. If the user uninstalls it or it becomes corrupted, it is automatically re-installed when the user logs in. The user cannot remove it.

The clients must be logging into the domain for this to happen.

I am ready to try it. i will keep u in the picture.
oop it will work...

SMS could also be used to push the file through to all the clients on the network if you have an SMS server.

I want to use SMS as last step. than'k any way.

Hi fluid11,
is it pussible to use the msi package whith administrator permition? if do, how?

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "use the .msi package with administrator permissions"? If your talking about the permissions on the share that the msi package is going to be in, the share needs read permissions for everyone that will access it. Also, give them NTFS permisssions on that folder so there isn't any conflicts.

I'm assuming you haven't gotten this to work yet. Let us know what the problem is and we'll help.

I am tallking about the msi file. it is a setup file to instull the im of microsoft.
if the users will run the setup, it will instull it ander administration permission or ander the user permission on the workstation?

The users don't do anything themsevles, it will be installed automatically without user intervention.

Sorry but I don't understand what your asking. Where do you see this? Did you set the share up? Did you set the GPO up?
