I have searched from internet. How to install HDA Realtek codec (ALC 662) driver for Windows XP SP2.I should install patch from Microsoft.
The patch is KB888111.exe and installed HDA Realtek codec driver for Windows XP SP2.
Rebooted after installed HDA Realtek Codec driver but HDA Realtek codec driver didn't load it. Because I checked from control panel --> sound --> can't see HDA Realtek Codec driver there.
And I have tried to install HDA Realtek Codec driver from Add New Hardware, but didn't work too.I installed linux and sound is working fine.
Any suggestion/solution about this problem...:)
Thanks

First of all, upgrade to SP3...

second make sure you have the CHIP SET drivers, here Intel INF, installed...

then attempt to install the driver again, with out the HotFix you mentioned...

make sure that the driver is downloaded from either the Acer or RealTek website...

Uninstall the patch reboot then uninstall the audio card install the patch from microsoft restart and let it install the audio or point it to the newest drivers.
Installing the patch after the sound card is already installed never seems to work or at least i could never get it to work properly.

I have tried to install new and old HDA Realtek driver for Windows XP.And didn't work with or without hotfix kB888111.exe.
Without KB888111.exe hotfix :
The error message : The device can't start (Code 10).

Is It possible to install Windows XP SP3 on Netbook ( used SATA Harddisk) ?

Where to find Intel INF ? Should I install KB888111.exe hotfix after install SP3 on Windows XP ?

I already installed Intel chipset driver for Windows XP before installed VGA driver and HDA Realtek Driver

I have tried to install Windows XP SP3 but can't detect SATA Harddisk on Netbook.

Thanks

Very obvious question, but is this the correct driver for your hardware?

Is It possible to install Windows XP SP3 on Netbook ( used SATA Harddisk) ?

Yes, by downloading the SP from MS and then installing it on SP2...

Where to find Intel INF ?

Intel INF are the chipset drivers and these are found on the Intel website... but if you already installed them then the point is mood...

Should I install KB888111.exe hotfix after install SP3 on Windows XP ?

no, the hotfix and others are already integrated in the SP, so you do not have to install it separately...

I have tried to install Windows XP SP3 but can't detect SATA Harddisk on Netbook.

of course, since it was missing the SATA drivers, F6 to supply them with a USB Floppy...

in the Device Manager, right click the sound card device, then go to the tab called DETAILS, on the drop down menu choose HARDWARE ID, copy the VEN and DEV numbers and post them here...

e.g. HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_1458A002

Yes, I have checked from Acer website about HDA Realtek Codec driver for Windows XP.IHDA Realtek Codec driver for Windows XP from Acer website can't work too.
And tried to install KB888111.exe hotfix from MS also didn't
I already asked Acer Tech Support. But they can't solve this problem until now.
I have sent email to callcenter@acer.com.tw.
And they didn't reply my email about this problem.
First time I bought Acer product and their support was suck.
They always suggested me to use Windows 7.
I am not sure my Gadmei USB TV Application can run on Windows 7.
I have installed SP3 for windows XP and came out "disk errors"
That meant can't detect SATA harddisk from Netbook after rebooted.

Sorry, I don't have usb Floppy to load SATA driver.
Can I use USB Flashdisk to load SATA driver ?

I have tried to install windows 7 Home Premium from DVD and took long time to load windows 7 installation menu.

You might be able to get a USB external floppy drive and use that to get any SATA drivers in.

Your Bios might have other settings to do with SATA/IDE compatibility that you could look at?

Have a look at the links coming from this thread.

Why is Format greyed out in WinXP 'Manage' ?
thread779-1509384

What are you aiming for, XP Sp3, or Windows 7 Home, or a dual boot with those two, and also Linux?

I will not buy USB external floppy drive and use it to get any SATA driver.
Do you know ACER Tech Support email address in USA ?
Acer can't solve it. I will not buy any ACER product again.
Acer website didn't help much. They didn't explain what's type of memory if you want to upgrade to 2 GB.
Right now, Linux is more better than Windows in this case.
Because I don't have any problem to get a HDA Realtek codec for Linux.Just installed Linux and played mp3 also DVD.

KB888111.exe from MS only can support Windows XP SP1 and SP2.
If I installed SP3 for Windows XP.KB888111.exe will not work on Windows XP SP3.

two things...

1. I already told you that the HOTFIX KB888111, is NOT necessary for SP3, as it is already INTEGRATED...

2. download nLite, then integrate the SATA drivers and make yourself a bootable install CD with XP SP3...

Download and instructions:

as for the Gadmei, which one do you have? There are drivers for Win7 available, one just have to look... e.g.:

UMAX/Gadmei USB UTV 330 USB Tv Tuner Driver for Win7

then there is this tidbit to take a look at also:

Install Windows 7 on any netbook (Asus Eee PC 900)!

Hi BadBigBen,

2. download nLite, then integrate the SATA drivers and make yourself a bootable install CD with XP SP3...

Download and instructions: My question is :

How to get Windows XP SP3 integrate the SATA drivers after I downloaded nlite from that website?
Sure, I had WIndows SP3 CD but didn't integrate the SATA drivers.

Thanks

I will try it. And see the HDA Realtek Codec driver for windows XP is working or not.
Hotfix from MS is useless.

Thanks a lot

I changed BIOS to IDE not SATA and installed WinXP SP3.
HDA Realtek Codec driver is working now.
Thanks

Do you know how to solve HDA Realtek codec driver for windows XP SP2 ?
After I have checked Audio driver for WinXP from ACER. They also included the hotfix KB888111.exe.
That meant MS will not solve audio driver problem on WinXP SP2.
Because I have read many article from different forum.
They said It was working after installed KB888111.exe.
I have tried it until Audio driver file corrupted.
Acer Tech Support told me to use WinXP SP2(suppport SATA driver).
Maybe Acer Tech Support didn't know Audio driver for winxp didn't work on WinXP SP2.

I will try to install SATA driver from ACER on WinXP SP 3 and change the BIOS from IDE to SATA again.
Will it work ?
Thanks a lot for your help.
