Install Firewall Client via Group Policy (GPO) 1

I have created a GPO to install the ISA Firewall Client which seems to be working fine. However, after the installation completes and the user logs in the Firewall Client properties page pops up and has to be closed. I don't want the users to see this box so I was wondering if there is any way to prevent it from appearing?

Also, is there any way to set the "Hide icon in notification area when connected to ISA server" box to be automatically checked/ticked using the GPO or by amending the setup.ini file for the firewall client?

Yes I noticed that it pops up too but I restarted the systems on my network a few times since then and guess what, it doesn't pop up anymore when the user first logs in. Test it out yourself see if it works. Install the client and just restart the computer before logging on and see if it pops up.

As for the hide notification when connected to ISA, I have heard you can do this somewhere, check the boards over at ISAserver.org for an answer.

Thanks Anthony, I found isaserver.org after I posted here and managed to find some additional info. It seems that, as you say, a reboot immediately after the installation and before login prevents the Properties box from appearing. Apparently there's a way to force a reboot by creating a transform (.MST) file which installs along with the .MSI installer. I've got as far as accessing the .MSI using Orca but haven't found how to add a reboot command yet. I also found an article about editing a registry setting and/or the management.ini file to hide the tray icon.

I'll post back if I find a solution but any help in the meantime would be appreciated!

Let me help you some. You can use a program called the Windows XP Professional Remote Shutdown Tool by Jeremy Berger. When you get it click on extras and then select all the machines you want to restart. I was using this tool until I got SMS 2003 this spring.

As for hiding the try icon and modifying registry keys, its easy once you done it once. Look in the forums for info registry VB scripts and run that script on all machines through GP.
