I have CS1000MG on Rel.5.0 - I need to install a new FALC card but my NTP is screwed....!! I have spare slot in
28-0-11 and need to update my key codes also which have been supplied on floppy - my drives however are compact flash...!!! What is the process please?

To update the keycodes all you have to do is copy the file from the floppy to the CF. Be sure the name is keycode.kcd and is in the root. Then you can issue the kdif and knew commands.

Thanks for the info - copying over to the CF isnt going to be a problem. Im not sure how I then tell the switch to look at this file and upload accordingly - what command string do I use please?

911guru - as stated at the begining - my NTP is not loading correctly hence my asking for advice.....also stated above is the fact that the keycode has been supplied on FLOPPY not flash - will this still have a readme file on...?

Thanks for any help guys.

Negative - my main PC does not have either - just CD drive however I have a new laptop which has a PCMCIA slot that I can shove in the FLASH card - I need to connect my external Floppy drive and copy over the relevant file. Once done what do I do next - I guess I slot in in the PBX drive (which one - I have 2) then run the appropriate overlay - assuming its LD 143 - but from there I dont know what to do?

Ok I had a spare flash card that ive now moved the keycode.kcd onto.

Would it be better to remove the existing flash card from the PBX where I do backups to - and put the file on there....I know at least these work ok with the switch.

There are a number of keycode commands under LD143 but I cannot remember what these are and what the EXACT process is from here-on-in..?

Put the CF card into Core 0, card slot. The LD 143

KNEW dr Select new candidate keycode from: parm. Depending on eligibility
keycode may be instantly activated or activated on next reset .
Where parm has one of the following values::
PIV CPU only
• RMD - candidate keycode on Removable Media Device
• FMD - candidate keycode created by means of KMAN/KUPL
PII CPU only
• F0 or F1 - keycode on the floppy drive on Core 1 or Core 0
• HD - candidate keycode hard drive

Remember RTFM

Thanks Chrisay59 - so I guess then my process is this:

Place flash card in Core 0
Load overlay 143

Type:

KNEW A RMD (Presumably dr means drive ie the a: drive)???

What is RTFM (Excuse my loack of knowledge here....)?

I ran the process as follows but it didnt load:

Copied the keycode.kcd from the Nortel supplied FLOPPY Disk to the root directory of the CF card that was removed from the drive of SIV CPU 0.

Placed the CF card back in the CPU and ran the following command:

LD143
KSHO REC (To compare with the new file once loaded)

This ran ok.

I then ran the following:

KNEW RMD

The following appeared:
"No keycode directory found on RMD"

I ran the following to reinstall the original file simply in order to check the process:

KNEW FMD
This was successfully accepted and activated.

I repeated the whole process, copying the floppy file again etc but same problem.

Am I doing something wrong please?

PROBLEM SOLVED....

I needed to create a "keycode" directory in the root of the CF card first. Then add the keycode.kcd file to that.

The process was easy after that.

The additional good news is that my new Analogue card works too...

Many thanks to all that helped.
