I need to install a DS-1 TN767E card in my Definity G3si v8. My questions is this, can I install the card, without powering off the PBX? The purpose is to add an additional voice T-1. Also, I think I have to do the "add ds1" to set it up. I can then add those new members to an existing trunk group. I have the CSU 120A3 and DS1 loopback & cable. I'm looking for some confirmation here..THANKS to all who reply.

You do not need to power off the PBX. Do make sure you ground yourself properly, especially when putting the CSU on the back.

Setting up the DS1 depends on what type of circuit you are installing. If it is ISDN-PRI you have to set up a signalling-group in addtion to adding the DS1.

Hope that helps.

I just added DS1 cards to my G3R, be careful and only put the card in a slot that is marked purple. I put one of my cards in a non purple slot and shutdown my two EPN's.

Also a 767 is not an ISDN-PRI DS1 card, so don't worry about a signaling group. You are also correct you just type add ds1 xxxxx for slot number.

Subtech is incorrect on one aspect, A TN-767E or better card CAN be used for PRI applications, But only with a processor interface configuration. Pac-con is available only with TN-464 cards: Exception! A Prologix with a C-Lan card card can be administered with Pac-con and a TN-767E, because the C-Lan card provides the Packet/Processor interface for the "D" channel! Remember That Station/Trunk cards only go in the Purple or Grey slots: WHITE is always reserved for Processor and/or Control cards!!!!

Last night I tried removing a TN464F and adding a TN767E. Prior to removing the card I removed the card from the trunk group, deleted the signaling group and deleted the ds1. Then I installed the TN767E, created the ds1, created the signaling group. But, when I checked the status of the signaling group I was saying that it was 'out of service'. I have another TN767E in the PBX already and that seems to be using it's own d-channel fine.

PBX: Prologix G3csi v8

Is there something that I'm missing??? Please help. Thanks.
