install client apps with msi extension

I want to install microsoft defender to all XP clients connecting to SBS. The download is an msi file and it does not install, giving the following error. "The command . . . . . . failed to run please verify that the servername, path and exe name arve valid.
I quoted the command line so that is not the problem.
EXE files run well. Does anyone know how to install msi files or wont they install that way ?

Are you attempting to use it in the recommended GPO method?

I don't know what the GPO methode is sorry,
I try to do it from:
client computers
set up client apps
assign apps to computers
