Ok, I'm following the process for joining an Exchange 2003 box to an existing 5.5 site. No problems. When I go to install Exchange 2003, however, it never prompts for an installation type (i.e. create a new Exchange org or join an existing one). Any ideas? I'm installing Exchange 2003 on a Win2003 SP1 box. Should I remove the SP1 from the OS and try? Help, I'm going nucking futs. . . .

During setup, a logfile is created.

You should find this standard as "C:\exchange setup.log" or something similar.

Check this log file for any specific errors (at the end of the setup file, as this is where you setup hangs...)

Did you ran exchangesetup /forestprep and /domainprep before successfully ?

Regards,

Peter

Ran both preps successfully beforehand. I figured out the issue.I had the POP3 service installed. In my late night haze I thought the install process was saying it couldn't proceed WITHOUT the POP3 service when it was actually saying it couldn't proceed WITH the POP3 service. I uninstalled POP3, then it gave me the optins I needed. Of course after that it took another 2-3 hours to figure out a few DLLs on the Exchange 5.5 box had mismatched encryption set on them so I couldn't connect. Once I called MS and got the patch, it was all good. The patch was from KB article 322051.

Thanks for sharing your input on this one.
