Hi,

I am trying to build a website with Dreamweaver and while it's coming along okay, I can't seem to move the insertion point off of the left side of the screen when I do anything - i.e. inserting and image requires that it be put on the left side because I can't put an image placeholder anywhere else. Likewise, text has to start on the left edge and can't be spaced or tabbed forward to the right side. When I do try to use the align menu from the "Properties" menu, it leaves what looks like a broken image link. I want to insert two or more images on the same line, but can't - any ideas?
Thanks,
juhko5

hi juhko5 !
2 possibilities:
-DW is not working properly (re-install)
-user does not understand HTML tags and is simply trying to insert just objects into plain body tag (any "Using Dreamweaver Book" or Tutorials that come with DW)

All the best! ;-)

Lebisol,

I have a feeling it may be the former - DW is not working properly, but I am trying to insert images into the standard WYSIWYG "design" view that DW opens up with. Since the tutorials direct one to simply insert image placeholder and mentioned nothing about plain body tag might you be able to give me simple directions?
Thanks,

juhko,

A web page needs organising in more detail than a "Word Processed" document.
Organise your page within a table. This will give your page structure, and you can then insert images next to each other in table cells.
If the borders are turned off then you will not see the table and your content will be clear and well laid out!

Wow - tables is the name of the game. I can't believe how simple it all is.

BTW, lebisol - that link doesn't work right it just gives a blank sheet.

U can use Layers & CSS as well as tables....
BTW the link does work :)

you can use div's too.
<div align = &quot;center&quot;>your image</div>

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Layers layers layers....now what can I not do without layers....

I got CSS fairly squared away.

Okay, one other question - does anyone know of an MX Shopping Cart plug-in that I can install now and configure to my Payment Gateway later?
