It's possible to have a prompted metric in a report that allows the user to enter a number and have that number populate a complete column in the result set. TN5700-751-1227 has the details.

I want to be able to do the same thing but with text.

Does anyone have any ideas, or alternative approaches? Preferably an approach that can be created in Desktop but actually run as Web Analyst.

Actually, I've worked it out already.

The text prompt is set up in the same way as using a number prompt....except that there is a bug in MSTR that prevents you from seeing prompts other than Number and Long in the objects window, and stops you from dragging and dropping it into the metric definition. However, if you type the name of the prompt and validate, MSTR accepts it as OK, and also tells you it is a Text Prompt.

Final object is defined as Max(?[Text Prompt]) {~}
