Hello,
I have no knowledge about Unix, but i must reinstall a running Hp 9000 C110 Workstation.
How can I do this ?
If I boot from CD I the machine says me:

Booting...
Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 0

IPL error: bad LIF magic

Error Reading IPL

What is the false ???
Hope you can help me!

Are you sure you are booting from the CD. When the system is starting to come up before it gets to the part that says booting you should interupt it and check out the bootable devices it knows about and change it to the CD.

Just to add a little more info:

1. When the system boots it will give you 10 seconds to
interupt the boot (press space bar).

2. Type "sea" at the prompt. This will "sea"rch the system for bootable devices and give you a list.

3. To the left of the list you will see a list of "P" numbers, these correspond to a divice.

4. Once you have decided which divice you wish to boot from (in this case the CD) enter the following: "bo P(number)".

This will cause the system to boot the LIF on the CD.

Yes i had interupted the bootsequence, and searched for the bootdevices. I can choose:
P0 core.FWSCSI.6.0 Seagatest32430W
P1 core.FWSCSI.6.0 Seagatest32430W
P2 core.SCSI.2.0 Toshiba cd-rom xm-5401ta

now i had selected P2 resp. core.SCSI.2.0

then i get the massages wich i had written in my first post.

what version of unix are you loading, and what release date is it from, i had c110 before and you must have a version of hpux that is supported. If your version is to old it wont boot from the disk...

My HP-UX Version is Release 10.20 1997, Series 7** B-,C- & J Class.
