Hi all,
i have the following Configuration

Backupserver is a SunFire V880 with SOLARIS 8.0 and NetWorker 6.1.2
Attatched is an STK L700 with 10 IBM ULTRIUM DRIVES via 2 Jaycore FCAL Cards.

Problem is:
Inquire shows me NOT all DRIVES
Inquire -L shows me 5 JUKEBOXES
Inquire -LC works fine (1 Jukebox and 10 LTO Drives

any Idea??????

I don't see the problem - use '-lc'

The option -c means no caching, I recommend this option as default, otherwise the results may not show the real situation in any environment (even in pure SCSI).
The option -l means, inquire is scanning all LUNs, otherwise it would stop at the first unused LUN. So if you don't have contiguous LUNs, this option would be necessary.

Did you modify your lus.conf and st.conf so that it can talk to your HBA correctly?

Hi CX,
thx for your answer I know that this option -lc works fine BUT why get I this ERROR (5 JUKEBOXES) if I use ONLY Inquire ????? That is my Question !!
But anyway thanks for you Hint

I guess that the Library mechanism presents itself as a target on each pseudo controller (2 drives on each)- we see a similar output with io-blades on an ADIC library i.e.

1.1.0 Blade
1.1.1 Library
1.1.2 Tape (1)
1.1.3 Tape (2)
..
2.1.0 Blade
2.1.1 Library - same one as above
2.1.2 Tape (3)
2.1.3 Tape (4)
..

With dual attached bridges you get even more, each tape drive is seen down two different paths and you get another set of paths to the same library controller.

This can be useful since you still have the ability to control the library (albit with fewer visible drives) if you lose an HBA, simply by modifying the jukebox resource file.

It is not recommanded to see tape over two san paths.

disable one way and run inquire again.
