Hello,
I am becoming crazy. I have on a w2000 networker 6.1.1.
Well I use a library from compaq MSL5026. If I use the original driver for the autocharger then when I try to make an inventary o whatever I try I get a input/output error.

If I use the default driver for W2000 (unknow media changer device) Inventory usually takes 20 mins or crash at 15 position. (It´s empty) and 60 % of backups fails for multiple reasons.

any idea?.

I too am having the same problem. I have a Overland Data loaderXpress library running on win2k svr sp2, with latest drivers from overland data. I also updated the Quantum tape drive driver in the library with the latest from Quantum. When I try to either do an inventory or a reset on the library it returns a "input/output error" message. When I try a backup it has a message of waiting for media.

Previously I had the library working, but I tried to add a second scsi device to the scsi adapter, but I couldn't get the second device to work. In the process of troubleshooting it I changed the scsi id of both the library unit and tape drive. I removed the second device and found that networker would not talk to the library, so I re-installed the library and tape drive. still not talking, I then deleted the library from the autochanger section in networker and tried the script for installing autochangers, this failed saying there was a problem with the driver. I then enabled the networker server to search for new devices on startup and rebooted, it found the library, but I'm getting a input and output error when doing an inventory or reset on the autochanger.

I can backup from the ntbackup utility, so drivers and scsi setup with the OS seem okay.

I will try uninstalling both the library driver and the Quantum driver again and re-installing.

If anyone has come across this before I appreciate any info.

Tood.

Hi, if the backupmedia (DLT) is unlabeld then you get I/O error while doing an inventory.
Just label the media before you doing an inventory.

This works fine for me.

Hi, I have recovered from this error. There was one important thing step I was doing after install the autochanger at the Win2k level, but before adding it in Networker. That is disabling the device in the Microsoft Removable Storage Manager (RSM). Networker currently doesn't support RSM and by default it is enabled for each removable storage library connect to a win2k server. It's in the installation guide on the CD...helps when to you read it ;)

Tood.
