Hi,

I'm using Cisco7206VXR NPE-G2
System image file is "disk2:c7200p-spservicesk9-mz.124-11.T.bin"

i found input error on all gigagit port

below is show interface gigabit result just after i do clear counter:

5 minute input rate 3968000 bits/sec, 1551 packets/sec
5 minute output rate 8281000 bits/sec, 2644 packets/sec
287980 packets input, 93494237 bytes, 0 no buffer
Received 76 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
449 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 449 ignored
0 watchdog, 413 multicast, 0 pause input
0 input packets with dribble condition detected
481620 packets output, 192449035 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets

has anyone experience the same problem?

rgds,
vincent

Did you say on "all" gigabit ethernet interfaces on your 7206 w/ NPE-G2 ? Usually when I see errors on a gigabit interface I would make sure the fibers are clean and possibly swap out the GBIC with a known working GBIC. You should not be seeing input errors. A good way to test this if you are using single/multi-mode fiber is to do a loopback test. Loop your TX to RX and your interface should go UP/UP, and check for errors during this test. This proves your fiber and GBIC is either bad or good.

Also beware of the NPE-G2! There is a major bug w/ them if you are running a 7206VXR with a hardware version less than 2.09 (found using show ver). To experience this problem though you have to have a channelized DS3 port adapter... Saw major issues w/ this Cisco ended up RMA'ing us multiple chassis because of this.

dear rainman

I use RJ45 interface using CAT5e Cable (is about 2 meters only)

my hardware version is 2.11 as showm below:
and I have no problem with my dS3 interface.

################
Cisco 7206VXR (NPE-G2) processor (revision A) with 917504K/65536K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID 35231514
MPC7448 CPU at 1666Mhz, Implementation 0, Rev 2.1
6 slot VXR midplane, Version 2.11
################

so far those error haven't effected to the traffic yet, but when I put acl or rate limit on the subinterface then the ping response for packet count 10000 times and with packet size 10000 is not 100% success

Best Regards,
Vincent

whats it connected to?
have you verified speed/duplex settings?
have you tried a different cat5 cable?

Don't worry about ignored errors couter increase as it's Cisco Bug & right now no fix available.

its connected to catalys 2970 gigabit switch and some of them connected directly to 7606 gigabit interface (WS-X6148A-GE-TX).
already check all speed/duplex setting are match.
already try to use cat6 also but the ignored error counter is still increasing
maybe amdavad is correct this is cisco bug, sofar it does not interupt my traffic.

are there cisco engineers in this forum? :)
please help to check the IOS and release new IOS bug fix :)

thx 'n rgds,
vincent
