INOUT Mapping Error with FPGA Express

I am trying to map an INOUT in FPGA Express VHDL and I am getting a:

"The pad mapping optimization can not determine the type of pad to insert at the port (FPGA-PADMAP-3)"

error. I have not been able to find any information about this error or a work around. Is there a way around this or am I not able to use INOUT ports.
