Hi,
I've limited experience doing crazy stuff with VBA. I've been amazed at what's possible - I'm sure something like this is but I've no idea where to start. Here's my use case:

From a Word document, I'd like to be able to click a cmd button I've put in with the developer tab, and have the macro/vba behind that button reach out to Outlook (start it if it's not already running - although that's not critical) and start a new email based on a specific email template.

Bonus Points: It would be especially awesome if this macro/vba would grab specific text from the word doc (either from a textbox, table or whatever) and throw that in the body of the generated email in Outlook. Clear as mud? Am I crazy to think a macro/VBA can do this?

Thanks a ton and God bless,

Joshua

Thanks Unsolved, that was very helpful and has me much of the way there.

If I can follow up with a related question: What about going the other way? - putting a macro in Excel that, when selected, will take text out of that email (either from table cells within the body or other form constructs), then open up a word document from a specific template, and drop those values in specific fields (text boxes, table cells, whatever).
