Initializing Norstar Voice Mail

I've done the "REINSTALL" and attempted the "CONFIG". When I press OK as the final step, "Cannot Continue" appears on the disply. What am I doing wrong? I powered down for 10 seconds. That didn't help.

What model and version of VM do you have?

If it's a Startalk Flash, open it up and short the memory cap for a few seconds and then power it back on.

It is the Norstar Applications Module. I don't know the version. I can't see that until I can log into FEAT 983, which I can't do until I get through the "CONFIG" part.

When you do feature 983 do you get log or password?

If you get "Cannot continue" after entering CONFIG at the pswd: prompt, the NAM has corrupted files on the hard drive that need to be deleted.

I'm ALMOST certain it asks for the password. Now that you ask, I'm not possitive.

Any idea how I find out which ones, and how to delete them?

You'll have to pull the hard drive and slave it to a Windows PC. Find the folder ST and rename it OLD-ST. Put it back in the NAM and power on. It should create a new ST folder and allow you to configure the NAM.

Well, I pulled the harddrive and tried to connect to a PC/laptop, to make changes. I haven't found one yet that will recognize it.
(I put a different HD in my ext drive box, and I can see it.)
Any suggestions?

I see that the HD is a 270meg. I don't beleive Windows XP will recognoze one that small, will it?

Maybe not. Do you have an old Win95 PC? Sounds like that's a very old R1 NAM. You might want to consider having it upgraded to R4.1.
