Hi
I'v recently downloaded freebsd 4.4 iso.
I've installed it using the developtment disro with out X.
Also i used medium security option.I then installed xfree86 4.1.0 from the CD.

First problem. I can only use X as root. If I use it as a normal user i get an error message about xinit permission denyed :0 type message.

The xmovie port does not work well. It starts up but i get an error message about /proc/cpuinfo(this file does not exist).
I get a lot of error 1 code messages when compiling stuff like xine and videolan.

Can someone help. thx

I don't know about the "xmovie port" but you need to create the .xinitrc file (note the preceeding dot!) in your home directory. Mine says simply 'wmaker' to start the WindowMaker window manager.
