Company is moving into a new facility next week with a landlord provided Nortel system that dates from 1997. I have no previous experience with Nortel, but management is pretty set on using it if we can, being as the Panasonic system we're leaving behind is even older and we have way fewer working phones left for it. I think it will be a good interim system once we get it dialed in, and will certainly carry us over until management is willing to pony up for something a little more "modern".
The system is physically setup as follows:
1 0x32 MICS with two LS/DS trunk cards and a 6-port fibre expansion card
2 0x16 station expansion modules
1 12x0 line card module (not sure how many line cards, and we don't need more than 4 lines in total anyhow, so we could probably completely disconnect this)
1 Startalk Flash (not sure how this is setup...didn't really get a good look at it)
2 ATA2 analog terminal adapters
And, of course, it has all the previous tenant's programming in it.
I'm tempted to factory reset everything and start over with programming it, but am worried about any negatives from doing so, particularly when it comes to the Flash and any possible key codes I might loose access to.
Could it be better to simply reset the 0x32 and delete system information/mailboxes from the Flash instead of resetting it?
Another question I have is on the 0x16 modules - the LED status lamps on both are flashing, when my gut tells me they probably should be steady. Is the flashing status lamp indicative of an error in these modules?
Thanks in advance for any assistance. Apologies if these are dumb questions (I did check the FAQ first).
