My company has recently purchased a blg that had a Star Talk flash system in it with sw: version 1.7.

Right now, if we have it plugged in to a phone box that has "voice mail" written on it, anybody who phones will go straight to an old ccr system setup by the previous tennant.

After searching this site and going through Google, I saw that if I had SW: ver 1.9 and above id be able to use F903 & f983 to change settings for the Auto Attendant, but with 1.7 for me everything comes up with "Inactive Feature"

Is there a way to upgrade or if it is not a free upgrade how can i change the current options in the CCR Tree and set the auto attendant to not pick up after 4 rings instead of the half ring that we get now?

Also, how can i change the "prime line" that is auto selected when anybody picks up a phone to make a call?

Thanks!

Stan

F983 is how to access Admin on ALL Nortar voice mails.
F903 was used in 1.9 and later to give you the abaility to change the feature codes before doing a Startup.

If you do F983 and it asks for a password then you need to enetr the default password.
If it ask's you to Log instead then enter the default login, if it was change then read the manual to reset it via F915.
Posting passwords not allowed in forums.

The guide you need is Norstar Flash Setup and Operation Guide.

For Prime Line that is under Sets/LineAccess/PrimeLine
This might be under techs side of programming but the admin guide is called Norstar System Coordinator Guide.

If you dont know how to get into programming or navigate through programming then suggest you call a tech/vendor.
Same goes for Voice Mail.

@Curlycord
As I had stated in my original message, it does not ask for a password. it says it is an inactive feature.

@bob
thanks, i will read up on it and find my own answer.

A few Montha ago, I helped out another Tek-Tips member who wanted to copy a Startalk software version 1.5 onto a different 8 Meg ATA flash card. The thread was and this also works for copying any Norstar CICS.

You can even use it to install a later version on top of the existing one that you have and I seem to remember that your original programming is still retained!.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Could be that the startalk was installed with another vm system, and would be using the lower 9xx codes. Try f**xftest to see which feature codes are installed.

Or call a local interconnect company. This is something I would never try to talk a user through.

Thanks to everybody!

I was able to get the system up and running, with all the renovations being done to our warehouse, I guess the cable from the star talk got damaged, because after i replaced it, it stopped giving me the "not initialized" message and let me get in to change the info from the previous tenant.

Once things calm down a bit with everything else going on, i ill upgrade the system as well.

The only thing I am having trouble with is where to change the prime line that is selected as soon as the receiver is picked up, and that during the day, instead of ringing the phones of the extensions that people dial, to go straight to their mailbox.Any ideas?

Thanks,
