Hello,

Here is the problem: Our company wants to give our database interface (currently console) an overhaul, and make it look and feel like a windows application. Our database is in Unix and queried thru Informix. We have hand written most of our business logic, and really don't want to do a lot of rewriting.

We have capable Microsoft programers and capable Informix programmers, but no "in-betweens".

What are our options? What are other companies doing?

Have a look to ODBC and/or OLEDB.

Hope This Helps, PH.

What do you mean by "querying thru Informix" ? Just SQL querying over DBAccess or applications written in 4GL ?
If it is only SQL try to use ODBC/OLE in your Windows application(s) to perform the queries you have. If you have 4GL applications, you have to rewrite your code in Windows (with VB,C,Delphi or something else) and again use ODBC/OLE in that code to access your database (alternatively, in the case of 4GL, you have Querix or Aubit tools which can help you to keep your 4GL code whereas you port it to the Windows environment). If you want to detail more your case, maybe I can help you better.
