Hi,

did you set the needed rights to all directories involved in that raw-partition ???

Hi,

Following are settings for the raw LV.

# lvdisplay /dev/vguv/test_informix
--- Logical volumes ---
LV Name /dev/vguv/test_informix
VG Name /dev/vguv
LV Permission read/write
LV Status available/syncd
Mirror copies 0
Consistency Recovery MWC
Schedule parallel
LV Size (Mbytes) 500
Current LE 125
Allocated PE 125
Stripes 0
Stripe Size (Kbytes) 0
Bad block on
Allocation strict
IO Timeout (Seconds) default

but which user:group does this belong to ??? It should be informix:informix

sorry, guess your right. I work too much on cooked devices.
Also Logical Vols, but cooked directories and devices.

Hi,

I am not an Operating System Admin so my views may go wrong, But I feel that the raw LV name can not used directly for the IDS dbspace purpose. One need to link a piece of raw disk fragment using ln command. Also an unmounted piece of disk must be owned and grouped to informix user.

Steps:
1. ln /dev/vguv/test_informix /dev/rawspace1
2. chmod 660 /dev/rawspace1
3. chgrp informix /dev/rawspace1
4. chown informix /dev/rawspace1

Steps 3 & 4 can be combined in one step. example:
chown informix:informix /dev/rawspace1

Now the raw device file /dev/rawspace1 is ready for informix usage.

Regards,
Shriyan

Shriyan,

I tried setting the permissions & privileges for the LV /dev/vguv/test_informix without creating the link which worked fine.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks
