Information Store Services Stops

I am baffled.
Our information store service will just stop for no apparent reason. I'm not sure if it is our Tren Scan-Mail that is causing the problem or if a virus of some-sort has done some damage.
I also lost the ability to use remote desktop to remote into the server around the same time.

Any ideas?

Yup. Check the event log on the server and report back.

How big is your database? If you are running standard, the info store will shut down if you go past the 16GB limit.

Are you getting something in the Application log along lines of Database error 0xfffffd9a?

okay, sorry for the delay.
It is OWA. When someone tries to send email using OWA, the service (MSEXCHANGEIS) store.exe, stops running.
I've checked the server with Trend AV, went through some of Microsoft's repairs, but still nothing.

Might try a repair on Windows?

Hi,

We had the same problem with Exchange 2003. We were hacked and someone installed a rootkit on the server. Microsoft has got the tools to scan for this stuff.
We also had Veritas Backup software installed wich had a serious leak.

Afterall we fixed the problem
